Frigidaire Energy Star Low Profile Window Air Conditioner
No grievances whatever. This unit, rated 6000 BTUH, cools two full rooms, where a "big-box special" 10,000 BTUH unit doesn't quite manage one (somewhat smaller than the two others). Its low-profile design produces an up-and-over air flow that distributes cool air around the room, instead of blowing straight out and directly on the people. It has separate fans for indoor cooling and outdoor condensing, so it's more effective than a low-cost single-fan unit and only makes noise when it has to. Not that it's loud-- at its worst it's better than a lot of window units I've seen lately.
It's a little more expensive than the typical big-box-store unit, but I consider the additional money well spent.
It was well packed and arrived in good order. I was a little worried since I'm a little feeble, and it was a couple of days before I might get some assistance installing it, but the directions were clear and everything "just worked" right out of the box. Suggested!
